Welcome to the TCDPC Critique Page!

TCDPC Critiques are available to all paid members of the Tri-City Digital Photography Club.  TCDPC Critiques allow its members to submit their photos to one or more evaluators of their choosing for in depth analysis of their photography.  Members submit their jpg images via email to one of the evaluators listed below and answers a short series of questions.  Evaluators will verify that the photo has come from a current paid member of the club and will then fill out an in-depth critique form which rates photos on technical as well as creative aspects as viewed by that individual evaluator.

Members are reminded that photography is an art form and therefore critiques are highly subjective.  Each critique will be the opinion of the specific evaluator who is giving the critique.  For best results, submit your photos when possible to more than one evaluator to get opinions from several different perspectives.  Short Biographies of each evaluator will give the submitter an idea of what they might expect from that evaluator.

NOTE: Since this program is JUST launching, only the Club President is handling critiques at this time.  If you are interested in being an evaluator, please email the Club President at lkn4truth@gmail.com and give him a short biography of your skills and experience in the form of the bio provided below.

To Receive a Critique

Send your jpg image to one or more of the evaluators below (currently there is only one) in an email and answer the following questions:

1.  Are you a paid member of TCDPC? If so, what is your name or the family name you were registered under if part of a family membership?

2.  Is there anything about the photo that you particularly want comment on (such as your use of black and white, your photo editing technique, your creativity, use of color, etc.)

3.  From time to time we would like to share examples of critiques our evaluators have given.  Are you willing to have your critique posted publicly on this page for others to benefit from? (You can always email us back after you've read your critique and give us permission after you've had a chance to see it first).

Hi, my name is Lee and I just happen to be the President of the Tri-City Digital Photography Club.  Of course this doesn't mean squat when it comes to my credentials for critiquing photos, but I thought it was worth mentioning.

I started this Critique Page after hearing over and over again that what most of our members want is to have someone tell them how to improve their own photography.  Some members have entered our monthly photo contests in hopes of getting feedback and advice on how they can improve and have been disappointed when all they receive is a score with no explanation as to WHY they scored that way.  This is where my area of expertise comes in.

My love for photography blossomed when I began competing internationally via a competition website much like the one we use today for our club.  I have competed in close to 80 competitions and have taken first place twice, finished in the top 10 seven times and in the top 20 fourteen times.  Our business cards for the club feature a photo of the cable bridge that placed 11th out of 170 photos in one competition and took first place in another.  In addition, I still serve in a very limited capacity on the critique club panel for a 40,000 plus member competition site.

While I feel I am plenty capable of critiquing any photo, my expertise lies in competition shooting.  Specifically, I can tell you why I think your photo would or would not score highly in a themed photography competition and why.  My critiques are most valuable when you as a submitter tell me the theme or mood you were trying to achieve in your photo.  Give me a try...it's free!

Hi, my name is Jack, I am going to stay on as Field Trip Coordinator.

I love to talk about photography and enjoy going to classes on learning more about it.  I have had some instruction from some of the top photographers in their field and have been critiqued by them so know some time I needed a thick skin but in the end it makes you a better photographer.

My main interest is in Wildlife, Landscape, and general shots. Any subject is a good subject if you take the time to shoot it.

I would like to work face to face with you and be able to talk to you about the critique.  I feel I can learn more about your style and knowledge in helping you get better results and maybe I can learn from you how to do things I do not know.

I would like for both of us to come away positive with maybe learning a new button on the camera or Lighting or Composition.

Lets make this fun.
